Reporting Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses Made Easier and Quicker for PEI Workers
The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) of PEI is pleased to offer workers on the Island the convenience of reporting and filing a work-related injury or illness claim anytime, from anywhere and any device, through the WCB’s Online Services portal.
Employers and health care providers have had access to the portal enabling them to provide information to the WCB and to access their account information. Now, workers will also have the option to complete and file an injury or illness claim from any device with an internet connection. Once a worker has begun filling out the Worker’s Report online, they can save changes, and return to complete the form within seven days. A traditional claim form will remain available for those who need it.
“Using the online Worker’s Report is the most convenient and quickest way for workers to report work-related injuries and illnesses and to start the claim process,” said Kate Marshall, the WCB’s Director of Claims and Compensation. “Clients can also rest assured that their information will be processed securely through the portal. We are always looking for ways to improve client experience and enhance the services we offer, and the online claim filing option does both.”
In addition to this service enhancement, the WCB has a comprehensive list of physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment providers under its Direct Access Program which expanded in 2023. Direct Access health care providers can assess work-related injuries and illness without pre-approval from the WCB. This means that workers can be assessed and begin treatment quickly following a work-related injury or illness.
